`100 Things' co-author Dave Freeman dies in LA

Dave Freeman, coauthor of "C Things to Do Before You Die," a journey guide and ode to odd adventures that divine readers and imitators, died after hitting his headland in a fall at his home. He was 47.


Freeman died Aug. 17 after the fall at his Venice home, his father, Roy Freeman, told the Los Angeles Times on Monday.


An advertising agency executive, Freeman co-wrote the 1999 book subtitled "Travel Events You Just Can't Miss" with Neil Teplica. It was based on the Web site whatsgoingon.com, which the geminate ran together from 1996 to 2001.


"This life is a unforesightful journey," the book says. "How lav you make sure you fill it with the most fun and that you visit all the coolest places on land before you pack those bags for the identical last time?"


Freeman's relatives aforesaid he visited about half the places on his list before he died, and either he or Teplica had been to nearly all of them.


"He didn't have enough days, but he lived them like he should get," Teplica said.


The book's recommendations ranged from the obvious - attendance the Academy Awards and running with the bulls in Pamplona, Spain - to the more obscure - taking a hoodooism pilgrimage in Haiti and "land dive" on the Island of Vanuatu, which Freeman erstwhile called "the original bungee jumping."


It included goofy art with each entry, indicating that some activities were "down and dirty," and others "grandma friendly."


The success of "100 Things" elysian dozens of like-minded books, with titles such as "100 Things Project Managers Should Do Before They Die" and "100 Things Cowboys Fans Should Know and Do Before They Die."


Freeman graduated from the University of Southern California in 1983, briefly working for an ad authority in Newport Beach before moving to New York to work for Grey Advertising.


On Sept. 11, 2001, Freeman watched the second plane hit the World Trade Center from his apartment hardly blocks away. He touched back to Southern California to be closer to his family.

Ben Folds leaked 'fake' album

Ben Folds has revealed he released fake versions of 6 songs online in holy Order to void the leak of his new album

Folds said he recorded the six tracks over ashcan School hours in Dublin, Ireland, and had his friends release the material in a sendup online leak.


However, Folds tells Rolling Stone that he reckons the �??fake�?? material was good enough to have made it onto the actual record, entitled �??Way To Normal�??.


�??I may be on crack, merely I think if that was half the real record, it�??d be good. I think some people hatred it because they were told it was a joke. In the end people got free songs and we had something to do on July 11.�?�


As previously reported, �??Way To Normal�?? was recorded at Folds�?? possess studio in Nashville, TN and produced by Dennis Herring, who�??s antecedently worked with the likes of Elvis Costello, The Hives and Modest Mouse.


It is referable to be released September 30.

Remy Ma Confident Of Appeal Success

Rapper REMY MA is confident she will non need to serve her eight-year prison house sentence for weapons and assault charges in full - because she is sure she will be vindicated upon appeal.


The 26-year-old rap music star - real list Reminisce Smith - was convicted in March (08) of rape, weapons possession and attempted coercion for shooting Makeda Barnes Joseph in the abdomen last year (07).


She was convicted of the charges and sentenced in May (08), despite maintaining her innocence, claiming the shooting was an "accident".


Smith has since hired cover lawyers William Murphy, Jr., Kenneth Ravenell and Richard Levitt to launch an appeal against the verdict, and is hopeful her legal squad will clear her on all counts.


She says, "With the addition of Mr Murphy, Ravenell, and Levitt, I now consider I have assembled a team that will get the power and expertness to narrate my side of the story.


"I am confident that later hearing everything, my side will rule. Mr Murphy comes highly recommended and I am pleased that he has agreed to lead my defence team."


And Murphy Jr., a senior partner in the Murphy Firm, has as well predicted his client will walk disembarrass following an appeal.


He tells AllHipHop.com, "We are pleased to handle Remy Ma's attract.


"We are confident that when we present all the facts, the world for the first time will arrive a true picture of what actually happened; and Remy will be clear."


Smith is currently helping time at Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women in New York as she awaits the appeal.
